MEDIA RELEASE, 12.06.2024
The Aletsch Arena and Bellwald will soon welcome the mountain bike elite: 30 days until the first Enduro World Cup races at the foot of the Great Aletsch Glacier!
The Aletsch Arena and Bellwald are preparing for a spectacular event. In 30 days, the first enduro races will start on the majestic Aletsch Glacier. The destinations are bringing the Enduro World Cup back to the Swiss Alps and promise epic races for EDR Pro, E-EDR and Open riders. The races will be held from July 12th to 14th, with the EDR Pro race on Saturday, July 13th being the highlight.
Having hosted the Swiss Enduro Series over the last two years and the Swiss Enduro Championship last year, the region is already well known in the Swiss enduro scene.
Course and categories
All races (EDR, E-EDR, Open) include a large loop that extends over both single trails and through the technical parts of the Bellwald Bike Park. The riders have to overcome 800 to 1500 meters of altitude under their own steam. Around 25 kilometers of race track with pure alpine flair are completed. The very strong infrastructure in the region is used to bring the participants to the highest and most spectacular points in the Aletsch region.
But the races are not just reserved for the world's 250 best enduro riders. The unlicensed participants in the open categories will tackle the Alpine courses in the Valais Arena on Friday, July 12th and can still register.
The exact race course will be announced, as is typical for disciplines, one week before the event.
How to watch?
Everything will converge at the hub in Fiesch. The riders will roll out from Fiesch and the last stage will also end in the heart of the village. The paddock and all F&B offers can also be found in Fiesch. Whether on foot or by bike, the spectator areas on the mountain are easy to reach and offer a great insight into the impressive enduro discipline.
A special highlight is the live broadcast of the last stage in the Hub. This means that spectators on site will not miss anything when the athletes fight for the last seconds on Saturday. The entire event will also be accompanied by the reigning Swiss champion Anita Gehrig and her twin sister, the vice-Swiss champion Caro. DJs and live music will round off the program for spectators in Fiesch.
The Aletsch Arena and Bellwald are looking forward to welcoming the world's best mountain bikers and enthusiastic spectators to this unique event. Experience exciting races, breathtaking landscapes and the incomparable atmosphere of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series at the foot of the Aletsch Glacier!
