PODCAST - SUSTAINABILITY IN THE MOUNTAIN BIKE SPORT

PODCAST #4

In the run-up to the major sporting event, you can listen to five podcasts with various guests from the world of cycling and representatives of the organizing committee. We talk about the importance of the event for the region, the impact on tourism and sustainability. We find out more about the construction of trails, the fascination of mountain biking and look ahead to next year's Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais.

Podcast #4 Sustainability in bike sport with Philipp Bont and Romeo Volken

You need good tracks to be able to go mountain biking at all. So-called trails. Philippe Bont and the Vast Trails team work every day to plan, build and realize the best trails. What makes a good trail is very individual. The important thing is to build sustainably. For Philippe Bont, it is also important to work with the valuable resources of nature and the landscape and to find harmony with them.

Romeo Volken is a pioneer. A pioneer when it comes to mountain biking in the Upper Valais. He started the iXS downhill races in Bellwald in 2007. Even the first edition was a surprise: over 300 participants took part. The race inspired riders, spectators and locals from Bellwald. Since then, Bellwald has been a Mecca for all bikers, so it is only natural that the UCI Enduro Mountain Bike World Cup races will be held in Bellwald from July 12 to 14 in addition to the Aletsch Arena.
